New experimental results on TL properties of dosimetric alpha-Al2O3 crystals are analysed. The nature of the TL peak at 410-480 K is discussed. Energy parameters of the centres participating in the formation of the peak are determined. Carbon ions (atoms) participate little in the formation of luminescence properties of the crystals. The presence of carbon is a necessary technological factor that ensures a high concentration of F centres when growing crystals. The role of other impurities in the TL mechanism of anion-defective dosimetric alpha-Al2O3 crystals is discussed.
