摘要：
The introduction of the Euro and the working of the European Central Bank are discussed at the background of the general problems of the role of money, the monetary system and monetary policy in a free society. The historical background, the objectives and the consequences of the political decisions in this field of policy of the European Union are explored. The paper concentrates on the consequences for freedom and order of this monetary institutional set-up and policy and on possibly better alternatives for the future. In this respect free banking and international money commodity is discussed.
