A "forgotten" book from Freud's youth

Borne's novel Hypatia had a profound effect on Freud at the age of fourteen; it was the only childhood book still in his possession in 1920. The Interpretation of Dreams, we might postulate, took root in the soil of this "forgotten" book. Another childhood reference. Mme Leprince de Beaumont's: "Le magasin des adolescentes: dialogues entre une sage gouvernante et ses eleves" enabled the adolescent Freud to acquire a knowledge of written French, whilst his sisters were able to gather from it a possible kinderfrau "training".
