摘要
Patterns of physical contact were observed in small groups of whirligig beetles, Dineutus assimilis Kirby (Coleoptera: Gyrinidae). Males and females did not differ in the frequency of overall touching behavior. Females, however, "brushed" and "bumped" males significantly more than expected by chance. Males exhibited no sexually differential behavior. These results confirm previous reports of sexually differential contact behavior by female Dineutus, but suggest that the behavior is not merely associated with novelty.
