Energy efficiency in existing buildings, including historic buildings, is perhaps our greatest opportunity for a sustainable future. Energy efficiency retrofits in all existing structures must consider both long-term use and conservation. This paper focuses on ASHRAE's work in this area. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
