摘要：

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a highly prevalent inflammatory skin disease in pediatrics, according to international studies. There is little information on the epidemiological characteristics in the Argentine pediatric population.The objective was to describe the prevalence and clinical characteristics of AD in a population of Argentine children treated in the pediatric service of a general hospital. Observational, cross-sectional study. 500 random patients were included, mean age 10 years (SD 5), 50% (250) female, of whom 24 presented AD. The overall prevalence was 5% (95% CI 3-7) and 3/24 were severe forms. The most frequent atopic comorbidity was asthma.AD is a disease with a prevalence in our population similar to that of other countries. Our study provides new data about the epidemiological characteristics of atopic dermatitis in our region.
