摘要
Iris recognition is one of the most important biometric based identity recognition methods. Because of its high accuracy, reliability, non-invasive sampling method, iris recognition has been a very popular researching topic since 1990's. As the quality of iris images is crucial for the performance of iris recognition, it is necessary to assess the iris image quality and choose those of high quality for the subsequent processes of iris recognition. In this paper, we present various methods of iris image quality assessment, and analyze the principles, advantages and disadvantages of each method. We illustrate the challenges involved in iris image assessment due to different factors and stipulate on some of promising directions for further research.
