摘要
This paper investigates an active power distribution node (APDN) topology's ability to improve distribution grid flexibility. Network flexibility demands the capability to accommodate dynamic power flow from a variety of power generation sources including higher penetrations of distributed energy resources. The TMMC-APDN interface accomplishes this by utilizing bi-directional ports and embedded energy storage to achieve power-routing and power-buffering functionality and selectively promote the utilization of connected sources and loads. It is important to evaluate the effectiveness of such features on a distribution system, and therefore, evaluate the benefits to system operation and power supply availability. The converter's functionality will be evaluated using a stability analysis of the controller's eigenvalues, availability calculations of the defined test system, and experimental testing of the converter modules.
