Studies on the grasshopper Catantops pinguis annotabilis (Walker) (Orthoptera: Acridoidea) with special reference to its habitats and male and female genitalia from Lasbela, Balochistan

The habitats of the grasshopper Catantops pinguis annotabilis (Walker) a pest of agricultural crops and pasture have been studied from Lasbela, Balochistan. The adults appear after summer rainfall. The eggs laid hatch in two weeks. The hoppers become adult in 3-4 weeks. The adults overwinter. It completes one generation in a year. The morphometrics, external morphology of head, thorax and abdomen including male and female genitalia have also been studied in detail and reinterpretted in the light of literature to date. The characters of taxonomic importance have also been briefly reviewed.
