Short-Circuit based Optimal Location, Sizing and Power Factor Determination of Multi Distributed Generations in Radial Distribution Networks

摘要
Nowadays, the importance of 'Small Scale Generation', known as 'Distributed Generation (DG)' is ever increasing throughout the world in order to meet the enormous load demand as well as to reduce the burden of substation. The integration of DGs having sufficient capacity makes the system reliable to satisfy consumer's load demand while drawing minimum power from the grid. The higher penetration of DGs into the network changes the magnitude and direction of short circuit current which may lead to changes in the protection coordination. So, it is desirable to minimise the change of fault currents after connection of DGs into the network. This gives the advantage to protect the system by existing protective devices with minor changes in their settings. In this paper, Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimisation (CPSO) method is used to determine optimal location, size and power factor of multiple DGs simultaneously by minimising the difference between short circuit currents of the network with and without DGs while satisfying the voltage, current and power constraints. The proposed methodology is demonstrated through 33-node and 69-node radial distribution networks.
