A series solution and numerical technique for wave diffraction by a three-dimensional canyon

摘要
The diffraction of harmonic waves by a three-dimensional canyon of arbitrary shape in homogeneous elastic half-space has been analyzed. The diffracted wave fields are constructed with linear combinations of three independent sets of Lamb's singular solutions, that is, the integral solutions for three concentrated surface loads in three directions and their derivatives are used to represent the diffracted wave fields. A technique is proposed to calculate the integrals in wave-number domain based on the method of steepest descent. The traction free conditions along the canyon surface are satisfied in the least square sense. Numerical results for the displacements of a canyon subjected to plane waves are presented.
