摘要
WLAN relies on distributed carrier sensing multiple access mechanism at each node to contend for the access to the channel. Each station has to wait for a certain amount of channel idle time to avoid collisions before each transmission, which leads to a large amount of bandwidth wastage. This paper proposed an efficient reservation based channel access mechanism for WLAN. The proposed scheme reduces the number of idle slots and avoids collisions compared to DCF by advertising the future channel access parameters in advance. It provides more efficient channel access and less collisions than DCF. Consequently, it is suitable for reliable traffic transmission with delay requirements, such as video and audio delivery.
