The American Psychological Association Awards for Distinguished Scientific Contributions are presented to persons who, in the opinion of the Committee on Scientific Awards, have made distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to basic research in psychology. Mahzarin R. Banaji is a recipient of the 2017 award for her work in collaboration with Anthony G. Greenwald. Banaji is cited "for identifying how the ordinary cognitive processes can produce biases in evaluating ourselves and others." Banaji's award citation, biography, and a selected bibliography are presented here.
