摘要
Various techniques and methodologies have been developed to evaluate environmental impacts associated with groundwater pollution and the concept of aquifer vulnerability is one of them. GIS allows. spatial data gathering and, at the same time, gives a means for data processing, such as geo-referencing, integration, aggregation, or spatial analysis. Assessment of vulnerability or delineation of vulnerable zone is not an easy task due to complex interactions of the parameters involved. The main objective of this paper is to find out the groundwater vulnerable zones in shallow aquifers in Western Industrial Cluster where there are all kinds of enterprises allowed to enter and producing more waste matters and making more influence on the local groundwater. DRASTIC model is used and it is based on the seven date layers that provide the input to the modeling. It corresponds to the initials of seven layers Arcview 3.3 GIS software was used to find out the groundwater vulnerable zones in shallow aquifers. The results show that more than 70% of areas' groundwater is under the medium to high vulnerability to groundwater pollution. The GIS technique has provided an efficient tool for assessing and analyzing the vulnerability to groundwater pollution. This model can be an effective tool for local authorities who are responsible for managing groundwater resources.
