EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, SELF-CONCEPT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PRACTICE IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The aim of this study is to analyse the levels of self-concept and emotional intelligence in university students, comparing the results with each other and with the variables of gender and physical activity practice. For this purpose, the Forma 5 Self-Concept Scale and the Trait Scale of Meta-Awareness of Emotional States were used, as well as some personal questions to determine gender and physical activity practice. The results show that females have a higher attention and academic self-concept, and males have a higher repair and physical self-concept. Subjects who practice physical activity have higher values in repair, social and physical self-concept than those who do not practice physical activity. On the other hand, there is a positive correlation between the factors of emotional intelligence and the dimensions of self-concept. Finally, the three factors of emotional intelligence are predictors of academic self-concept, repair and clarity predict social self-concept and, adding the age variable, they also predict physical self-concept.
