In-service workshops and continuing education programs are fast becoming an integral part of the intellectual life of teachers and professionals today. Although the cases surveyed here concern primarily my role as a provider of continuing legal education for members of the American Bar Association, this paper explores as well strategies for working effectively with all manner of students in non-traditional educational venues. Although I tend to favor using great works of literature as the basis for my teaching, the general approach presented is offered in the hope that you can contour the ideas discussed to fit your own needs and further to revitalize those forms of instruction conducive to "life-long learning."
