Economics related to urban water resource management

From the present state and management practice of water resource in Chinese cities, several ideas about water resource management in urban areas are put forward. The value of water resource must be reasonably estimated: because water resource has double attributes as natural resource and commodity. The relationship between supply and need of water in a cities should be understood to improve water pricing system. Water price couldn't be regarded as the only way to evaluate the benefit of water saving. Common economic rules of cost-benefit also exists in protecting water resource activity, such as developing environmental protection industry (water resource protection), building up environmental resource evaluating system including water resource, which should be included in the comprehensive economic indicator system of a city.
