摘要
The huge burden of diseases and the shortage of the necessary human resources remain a concern in the South African healthcare system. Technology platforms can be applied in healthcare, promoting meaningful communication between the patient and the healthcare team and can be used to address health-related issues. This research developed a maturity model through which such technology platforms can be assessed. The maturity model is based on an existing technology platform management framework focusing on the platform owner level of the platform ecosystem. The maturity model comprises five maturity levels according to which the maturity of a technology platform can be assessed. The model was evaluated through semi-structured interviews and a case study. This model presents the opportunity to improve healthcare platforms and initiate the development of new platforms to address the healthcare needs of South Africa.
