(Figure Presented) Polarized liquid/liquid interfaces can be used to control ion-exchange processes. This concept is illustrated with respect to zeolites, specifically with the replacement of Na+ with H+ ions in zeolite Y. The schematic diagram shows the ion exchange in a zeolite suspended in an aqueous phase with the selective extraction of Na+ ions into an organic phase. © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
