摘要
Many types of fault current limiters (FCLs) have been designed and implemented in transmission and subtransmission levels of the grid, among which the resonant type FCL has captured more attention due to its simple, yet efficient, functionality. Parallel-type resonant FCLs (PRFCLs) could reduce the fault current effectively with only the reactive part of impedance, rather than the resistance; this could be considered as both a merit and a drawback. In this paper, the performance and functionality of different designs of PRFCLs are addressed to find the best method of current limitation with minimum side effects like voltage sag, harmonics, etc. Performance analysis for various PRFCLs is conducted using SIMULINK/MATLAB software. Simulation results show the efficiency of a PRFCL in reducing the fault current by changing only its reactance.
