Preliminary Study on Urbanization and Challenges of Migrant Workers in China

Since the reform and opening-up, a huge number of peasants poured into cities and became migrant workers, who have made tremendous contributions to the social development of China. However, due to the constraint of urban-rural dual structure, migrant workers have been suffering a serious social inequality in the city. It led to the issue of urbanization of migrant workers. To effectively solve the problem, we should take the current favorable opportunity to break through urban-rural dual structure through institutional innovation, and then achieve equal right between migrant workers and urban residents. To solve the problem is an arduous task and there is long way to go. It will demonstrate the social justice.
