摘要：

This article argues that a close reading of Otlet's notion of the book in his Traite de documentation, along with the general metaphysics in his Monde, reveals a concern with force and dynamics which undermine traditional notions of the book, and raise questions about accepted readings of Otlet which characterize his work as positivistic.
