摘要
The tooling has a direct influence on the production cost through the achieved removal rate but also a considerable effect on other costs. The cost optimisation is a rather complex matter. A simplification of the task is to see what limits the removal rate in a certain operation and by appropriate measures move the limits further to gain productivity. The use of wiper technique in turning increases the feed rate in finishing dramatically. Milling cutters with a smooth cutting action perform better and are necessary in weak machine tools aimed for higher spindle speeds. Machining in hardened components is a technique to obtain a straighter and faster production flow by avoiding unnecessary operations. In unattended production have more reliable cutting materials and tools in combination with a functioning monitoring or adaptive controlled system made it possible to machine fast and safe. Huge number of items in the workshop often tools and tool parts cause logistic and storage cost and represent a large amount of capital. The number of tool components can be reduced dramatically by using a modular tool system with the same coupling between the tool and the machine tool as for the modularity itself. The aerospace and mould making sectors are expected to expand which influence the materials to be machined. The volumes of harder, high. temp. resistant and high strength materials are increasing.
