摘要：

The Discrete Optimization journal published a special issue, to focus on the achievements and contributions of George B. Dantzig in a number of fields. Four papers from leading authorities, surveying his contributions were also published in the journal. The first invited paper described his contribution in the field of numerical optimization, the second paper described his contribution to economics, the third to integer programming, while the fourth paper described his contributions in the field of the theory of computation. It has also been observed that he made significant contributions in several other areas of research, such as making significant advances in the field of stochastic optimization.
