摘要：
An overview is given of a course designed to provide a link between the engineer as a calculator and designer and the engineer as a professional who must recognize that his or her inventions have profound societal impact and who must therefore act in a socially responsible manner. The course is intended for upper-level students who already have a background in calculation and are beginning to become acquainted with the engineering culture. The course uses case studies that deal with technology in the language of the mathematical and physical sciences that the engineering student sees as his or her own.
