摘要
This study describes results of a collaboration from the design work on a new type of ship. A passenger ship with a small water-plane area was designed but without a deep understanding between the designers and the consultant. The main differences between the two options for the ship were the wet deck structure, the vertical clearance, the number of shafts, the number and placement of motion mitigation foils, and the possibilities for other forms of motion mitigation. Various consequences, such as displacement (empty and full), the propulsive coefficient, and the seaworthiness, are the result of various technical decisions. The failure of the design was attributed to the lack of discussion and collaboration.
