摘要
Biofilm processes have several acknowledged advantages compared to suspended biomass processes, e.g. resistance to toxicity and influent variations. The newly developed suspended carrier biofilm process (SCBP) has overcome the conventional biofilm processes problems with clogging at high loads. The SCBP has been shown to remove 90% of soluble COD in pulp and paper wastewaters of low or intermediate strength and to remove 40 kg COD/m3 d in highly loaded processes. SCBP is also used for a pharmaceutical industrial wastewater in a multi-stage process where fungal, bacterial and micro-animal are employed to remove toxicity and reduce COD by more than 90%.
