An Accurate Iron Loss Evaluation Method Based on Finite Element Analysis for Permanent Magnet Motors

摘要
This paper presents an accurate and fast iron loss evaluation method using the play hysteron model for the hysteresis loss and one-dimensional Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for the eddy current loss. This approach is applied for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) fed by Pulse Width Modulation inverter. The simulation result is compared with the measurement. It is also compared with the simulation result by the conventional Steinmetz based method. The analysis of the iron loss calculation results shows that the proposed method captures the mechanism of the iron loss generation accurately.
