In a previous work it has been demonstrated that noise at meshing frequency of a drive, simply composed of two pulleys and driven by an electric motor, can be estimated using vibration data measured by a Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer on the belt spans as input for a BE acoustic model. The same approach is here extended to a more complex belt drive scheme, typical of a power transmission of internal combustion engines. This test bench has been conceived in order to excite also belt span resonances and keeping at minimum the noise radiation due to other sources (electric motor, camshaft, etc) so as to to have a reference condition for the model validation.
