摘要：
Soliton switching in an asymmetric nonlinear directional coupler with dissimilar core sizes is studied numerically. A new Schrodinger type coupled nonlinear equations describing the switching dynamics is presented. The relevant coupler parameters are calculated. It is shown that the asymmetric coupler exhibits soliton switching only if the deviation from the symmetry is slight and in the weak coupling regime.
