摘要
Cancer is one of the most intensively studied research fields as a result of the high incidence and mortality rate. To improve the cure of serious illnesses such as cancer, the way of drug development and drug screening has to be advanced. Therefore, the replacement of 2D cell cultures by 3D cell cultures is an increasingly discussed topic. Unfortunately, the screening of both cultures is a time-consuming and complex process, which makes it impossible to screen a high amount of samples per day. Therefore, the automated screening of cell cultures should cause a much higher sample throughput and also improve the drug development and screening. In this paper, we present a High Throughput Screening system (celisca, Rostock, Germany) to realize the drug screening of 2D and 3D cell cultures. The screening of 2D as well as 3D cell cultures can be realized by a specific instrumentation setup, which can handle the different cell cultures and enables a precise data measurement. Concluding, the High Throughput Screening system can be expanded to industrial scale to perform a drug screening based on 2D or 3D cell cultures in a high throughput manner.
