摘要：

The objective of this paper is to highlight the need for a wider focus to analyze and address problems related to natural protected areas (NPAs) in North America. In order to achieve this, I describe the limitations of current decision-making processes related to NPAs by comparing the general characteristics of the problems to be addressed, to the approaches commonly used for diagnosis, and analysis of such problems.
