The construction industry is a vast industry in India which contributes to 11% of GDP which has a good impact on national economy growth and it is an essential part of the infrastructure and industrial development. But construction professionals face an unreasonable stress that generates to physiological, sociological, and psychological strain effects; which greatly influences their behaviours and safety performance. This paper identifies the causes of the stress among construction professionals and enlists the factors that affect the productivity of their job, the work-life balance of construction professionals, their stability and job control in the construction industry. This paper emphases the stress among the construction professionals in Chennai, thorough the study of different literature studies, qualitative and quantitative analysis on data regarding. For this questionnaire survey was administered to practitioners, and 130 responses were received. Statistical analysis confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis were conducted and the results, conclude that women professionals have more stress than men. Based on designation site engineers possess high stress. The results brought out the fact that excellent communication and team support may help to keep the relationship between employees, which contribute to reducing the stress level among the professionals.
