摘要
The importance of citizenship education of children, youth and adults is currently increasing in relation to negative socio-cultural phenomena such as extremism, xenophobia, political radicalism. Its importance also grows in the range of the concept of promoting active citizenship as one of the primary objectives of lifelong learning. In this context, the role of citizenship education and active citizenship is accentuated in relevant international documents (UN, UNESCO, European Union). From the point of view of lifelong learning, it is possible to note a certain deficit in the attention paid to citizenship education of adults, especially in the context of theory and practice of adult's education. In Slovak and Czech Republic, there is an absence of scientific work with focus on a more complex curricular analysis of citizenship education of adults. In the context of these ideas, the aim of this study is to characterize and compare the current state of development of selected aspects of citizenship education of adults in Slovak and Czech Republic. Besides the theoretical resources, the submitted study also presents partial results of our own empirical research, which is currently implemented in the environment of subjects providing citizenship education of adults in Slovakia.
