Enhancing the Trailing-Edge Cooling Performance of Gas Turbine Blade Using Cylindrical Pin-Fins Cooling

摘要
One of the important aspects on design the cooling system of gas turbine blade is the configuration inside the cooling passage as the coolant exit-slot before mixing process with the main hot gas. This paper presents the mixing characteristic between the mainstream flow and the coolant over the trailing-edge surface of gas turbine blade due to the existence of pin-fin cooling compared to the empty duct. This research was numerically performed by Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) based on SST k-omega, turbulence model. The results show that the blade trailing-edge (TE) cutback cooling can be improved by installing the cylindrical pin-fin cooling. The film-cooling effectiveness increases up to 19 percent by the existence of pin-fin cooling.
