Tidal internal waves propagating over large distances in the Indian Ocean

摘要：
Observations of tidal internal waves are analyzed on the basis of moored long term measurements on a vast area in the Indian Ocean. Intensive internal waves induced over Mascarene submarine ridge decay while propagating in the ocean. Their amplitude decreases by 10% over one wave length. After propagating 2000-3000 km from the source wave the amplitudes reach the background level. Analysis of observations is confirmed by calculations, using a numerical model.
