Future voice services and CPE trends

This article considers the development of telephone devices and explores the potential impact of fixed, mobile and broadband on future services. It starts by reviewing some of the developments in customer premises equipment (CPE) over the past 40 years and then focuses on some of the more recent developments. Finally it presents a look ahead to the impact of broadband in the home, and some possible implications for future voice services.
