Hybrid cultural and back-propagation algorithm for neural network training

摘要
This paper proposes a new approach for training feed-forward neural networks (FNN) by hybrid of cultural algorithm and back-propagation algorithm (HCABP). It combines the advantages of the global search performed by cultural algorithm over the FNN parameter space and the local search of the back-propagation algorithm(BP). Using a function approximation problem as an illustration, we compare the HCABP and BP for effectiveness, ease-of-use, and efficiency for training FNN. It shows that the proposed method can provide better results for training FNN than BP.
