摘要：

This work focuses on describing damping enhancement for two-dimensional structures using piezoelectrics in combination with a passive electrical network. An analytical model is developed to quantify such damping. For optimal placement of the piezoelectric elements on a host structure an energy-based approach is applied and extended for two-dimensional structures. Furthermore, the effect of using different configurations of the passive electrical network is discussed. Finally, experiments are conducted to verify the developed models. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd.
