Grain-oriented ternary systems based on lead titanate zirconate ceramics

Polycrystalline PbZrO(3) - PbTiO(3) + 2.5% La(2)O(3) was prepared by hot pressing. The electric and electromechanical properties of grain-oriented samples were measured. The anisotropies in the permittivity and the pyroelectric current were studied between the parallel and perpendicular directions to the hot-pressing axis. The perpendicular sample shows a greater electromechanical coefficient than the parallel sample. On the other hand, the dielectric losses and quality factor are greater for the parallel sample. These anisotropies are higher than those found for other ferroelectric ceramics with the same preparation technique.
