The Function of Environmental NGO in the Governance of River Basin Water Environment in China

How to effectively improve water environment has aroused the universal attention of Chinese society. It would be limited for the governance of river basin water environment to rely on government only. As a third-party force, environmental NGO has always been paying attention to protection of water environment and playing a key role since its establishment. This paper offers a comprehensive analysis of the grounds, structure, existing realistic problems and reasons of the function of environmental NGO in the governance of river basin water environment, and accordingly puts forward the countermeasure for promoting the functional exertion of environmental NGO in river basin water environment, so as to achieve the sustainable utilization of water resources in China.
