Using a block-on-ring tribometer with revolving motion of high chromium cast iron (HCCI) ring against alumina strengthened yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (ADZ) blocks, the wear surface of ADZ was investigated at room temperature in 5%NaOH solution containing 2% (in mass fraction) SiO2 abrasive particles. The results indicate that the wear rate is increased with increasing of normal load in range of 100 N similar to 500 N; meanwhile, the fractal dimension of the wear surface as a function of the wear rate of ADZ has the same trend means that there is affinity between the characteristic of the wear surface and the wear rate.
