Computer-aided analysis and quantitative study of complex Ichnofabrics

Ichnofabric refers to the specific aspects of the bioturbution and bioerosion or the texture and internal structure of sediment resulting from all phases of bioturbation and bioerosion. Ichnofabric includes the bioturbation which is identifiable and the unidentifiable structures. Helped by the Computer image processing technology, we can enhance the characteristic parameters of complex Ichnofabrics, such as the color contrast between the bioturbution and the host sediment, wall, wall lining, the direction and the internal structure of the burrows. Every period of bioturbution is processed respectively.
