Effect of atropine on the activity of carboxypeptidase H and phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride-inhibited carboxypeptidase in rat brain regions and adrenal glands

摘要
The effect of a single atropine administration on the activity of carboxypeptidase H and phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride-inhibited carboxypeptidase (enzymes participating in the final stage of formation of biologically active neuropeptides from their precursors) was studied. A prolonged (for at least 72 h) decrease in the activity of the enzymes was observed. The decrease in the enzymatic activity may be one of the mechanisms of the reduction of neuropeptide level under the action of high doses of atropine.
