摘要
Christian Constitutionalism in Medieval times of Western Europe refers to the idea of exercising constraints on the governing powers in the hierarchy of the church. Three aspects of this period of history are worth reflecting. Firstly, the reason for this practice is to restrict the influence of sin. By means of this, the corruption of rulers and collective sin of the ruled could to a degree be avoided. Secondly, by integrating Biblical Law, traditional law and positive law, a transcendental principle is applied to limit the managing power. Thirdly, the installation liturgy as a public process provides an effective way of reminding the ruler the importance of self-disciplined actions and the requirement of public supervision.
