A new, multi-faceted approach to parallel computing

This paper gives an overview of the thesis and dissertation topic to create a comprehensive embedded parallel computing system. This project will utilize a new functional language called SequenceL, which is being developed by Texas Tech University. Due to the structure of the language, automatically finding the parallelisms efficiently in a program is trivial. The interconnection mechanism will consist of a controller that can be connected to endpoints, other controllers, or a combination of the two. This allows for an almost limitless number of interconnection topologies. A custom protocol is being developed that is well suited for the Message Passing Interface (MPI) and other similar parallel computing APIs. Together, these technologies can greatly simplify parallel computing in embedded environments.
