Ultrashort-pulse generation by self-mode-locked Ti:sapphire lasers without apertures and with low pumping powers

摘要：
We demonstrate the low-pump-power operation of a self-mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser without hard apertures. The pump power was reduced owing to the tight focusing geometry in our design. Stable sub-25-fs duration pulses for pump powers in the range 2.8-3.0 W for the 10 mm long Ti:sapphire crystal, and sub-15-fs duration pulses for pump powers in the range 0.5-0.6 W for the 2 mm crystal were obtained.
