Simulation of particle crushing using Discrete-Element Method (DEM)

摘要
This paper simulates the crushing test of rock by the discrete-element method. A rock sample is a synthetic material whose micro-properties can be chosen as to reproduce the relevant behaviors. The fractal dimension is obtained by analyzing particle size distributions. Derive a theoretical formula of crushing strength and survival probability based on the fractal model to predict the value of different sizes. Compare the predicted results with the numeral experimental data, and prove to be consistent. The fractal dimension increases with the porosity of rock decreasing.
