Preparation of Titanium Powders by Metallothermic Reduction of Titanium Oxide

摘要
In this paper, influences of the additive of CaCl2, reduction temperature and reduction time, on the magnesium vapor and calcium vapor reduction process of titanium oxide in which pigment grade TiO2 was used as raw materials, were investigated by the means of XRD, SEM and EDS. The result indicates that CaCl2 has no obvious effects for magnesium vapor reduction of TiO2, but can remarkablely improve calcium vapor reduction process of TiO2. Reduction temperature increasing would hinder magnesium vapor reduction process in the range of 1000-1200 degrees C, and on the condition of reduction temperature 1473K and reduction time 6h titanium powders (purity: >95%Ti, particle size: 3-51 mu m, shape: irregular) were prepared by calcium vapor reduction process.
