Maintenance strategies for torrent control measures

Torrent control measures serve for the protection of human life and assets (buildings, traffic ways). Protection works in torrent watersheds are exposed to extreme impact Mood, debris flow) and environmental conditions, these buildings are subject to severe wastage. Concerning the maintenance and inspection of these measures special standards of safety have to be applied. The article summarizes the results of the normative regulation of maintenance management in torrent control for Austria in the ONR 24803 taking into account the specific concepts, particularly damage processes, models for wearing processes, failure of construction, maintenance strategy and classification (level) of conservation.
